Orchard Row is nestled within the walled garden, with lovely views across the neighbouring orchard. It comprises two adjacent cottages — Hop Pickers’ Cottage and Welsh Cottage — both converted from 18th-century hop farm buildings that were once a single property.

 

Together, the cottages sleep up to six guests, making Orchard Row an ideal choice for family groups or friends holidaying together. An extendable dining table and flexible seating allow everyone to gather comfortably for meals, while still enjoying the privacy of separate living spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms.

 

Hop Pickers’ Cottage is the quintessential English country cottage, sleeping four guests. Downstairs, there is a well-equipped kitchen and an open-plan living area with a gas-fired “wood-burner” stove. The tastefully furnished rooms blend traditional character with modern comfort, and many original features are complemented by local artwork and photography that reflect the building’s former use as accommodation for hop pickers during the annual harvest.

 

Upstairs, there is a charming double bedroom with an original cruck beam, alongside a flexible twin or super-king bedroom with orchard views. The beautifully refurbished bathroom includes a bath with shower over.

 

Full of character, Welsh Cottage is a cosy and welcoming retreat for two. This charming nook offers just enough space for a couple (and their dog) to hunker down and relax. The open-plan living area includes a smart, well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable armchairs and a gas-fired cast-iron stove. Upstairs, a double bedroom with characterful beams is complemented by a recently renovated bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. Outside, guests can enjoy a south-facing patio — perfect for al fresco meals — and easy access to the shared cottage garden. In warmer months, unwind in the hammock chairs or outdoor seating, and on summer evenings enjoy the scent of lavender, jasmine and honeysuckle. Light the firepit, and on clear nights head to the star-gazing deck to admire the dark skies; a telescope, binoculars and blankets are provided.

 

 

 

Please note: Welsh Cottage is not suitable for children due to steep stairs & compact layout. Children are welcome in Hop Pickers’ Cottage, and a travel cot is available for infants.

 

Pets other than dogs are not permitted at Orchard Row. We welcome up to two small-to-medium, well-behaved dogs per cottage, provided they are house-trained and kept under control at all times.
